Once the flooring has been grooved the seam must be cleaned free
from any cutting debris.
The seam is welded using standard 4mm welding cable in a suitable
colour as agreed with the end-user.
Because all floor coverings and welding cables have different
compositions and react differently under heat it is always best to do
a trial weld on a piece of waste flooring in order to set the correct
temperature and welding speed. As a guide the weld gun should be set
to a temperature approx. 280°C. Be careful low temperature setting, or
moving too fast will result in a weak bond. A high temperature setting
or moving tooslowly can scorch the seam edges
Once the seam has been welded the first trim can be done. This must
be done using a half-moon knife and a sledge. This allows most of the
excess welding cable to be trimmed away whilst still warm.
The remaining welding cable must be allowed to cool to room
temperature before further trimming. Once the weld is completely cool
the final trimming can be done using half – moon knife without the
sledge. Extra care should be taken to the angle of attack and the
sharpness of the blade. This ensure a clean cut without digging into
the surface of the product.
Once the weld has been trimmed flush to the surface the job is complete.
Juteks recomend hot welding for commercial and semi-commercial
flooring
Instalation should be done by a qulified floorlayer in this type of product.
Cold welding
Cold welding is used with low-traffic and residential areas, and can be
started 24 hours after the installation of vinyl sheet flooring.
Cover the seam between two sheets of vinyl flooring with lightly
removable adhesive tape to prevent the sealant fluid from sticking
to the surface of the vinyl flooring. Using a sharp blade (e.g., a utility
knife), cut through the tape along the seam and fill it with the fluid
sealant following the instructions of the sealant manufacturer. After
approximately 10 minutes, the sealant starts drying and the adhesive
tape can be removed. With time, as a consequence of cleaning and
normal wear, the joint between two sheets of vinyl flooring disappears.
NOTE:
The seam cut and surrounding area must be clean, dry, and free
of adhesive.
MAINTENANCE
After installation (for all Juteks floors)
After the vinyl flooring has been installed, protect and do not disturb
the sealed seams for at least 16 hours after seam sealer application to
ensure a proper seam bond. Keep traffic to minimum during the first 48
hours, to allow the adhesive to harden. Furniture should not be placed
on the floor until the adhesive has adequate time to dry (at least 24
hour). Always move heavy furniture and appliances with care to avoid
gouging or tearing the floor. First, lay strips of plywood or hardboard
panels on the floor. Then roll, “walk” or slide these items on the strips.
Make sure furniture legs have large surface, nonstaining floor protectors.
Replace small, narrow metal or dome-shaped glides with smooth, flat
glides that are in flat contact with the floor. Glides should be equipped
with self-adhesive felt pads to avoid scratching the surface of the floor.
The pads should be checked periodically for grit and wear and replaced
when necessary. Always place mats at outside entrances to prevent
dirt, grit and soil from being tracked onto your floor.
NOTE:
- do not use rubber-backed mats or other rubber objects on surface
because they may permanently stain your floor,
- heat-producing appliances (refrigerators, hot air emitting devices...)
or cigarettes and matches can scorch, burn or discolour your floor,
- do not use spiked heels on floor coverings, they can leave
permanent damage on surface,
- vinyl flooring when overexposed to the sun may discolour or fade,
so draw drapes and blinds during peaks periods of strong sunlight,
- in case of stubborn stains, carefully read section Maintenance in
case of stubborn stains.
Initial and regular care
(detail information’s on
The necessary maintenance works include regular sweeping, vacuuming
and wiping with a damp cloth, which has a grater effect than occasional
scrubbing.
Wipe vinyl flooring with a cloth dampened with a mixture of water and
mild detergent. Let it dry. When water is spilt on the surface of vinyl
sheet flooring it should be wiped off immediately, as it can damage the
adhesive between the vinyl flooring and the subfloor in non-welded
vinyl flooring.
When cleaning, do not use soap as it leaves a film on the surface of the
vinyl flooring causing it to lose its original lustre.
There is a range of cleaning and maintenance products available that
contain high-quality wax; they are especially recommended for vinyl
flooring without the EXTRA PU GUARD protective coat. Such products
provide additional surface protection and enhance the lustre and
smoothness of vinyl flooring. Juteks recommends a consistent use of
cleaning products from one manufacturer.
Periodic maintenance
(detail information’s on
Periodically use a floor machine equipped with scrubbing brush, wet
vacuuming and dry buffing to clean floor covering surface.
For vinyl flooring without the EXTRA PU GUARD protective coat, once
or twice a year or as needed, strip the floor polish to avoid build-up.
Use a wet/dry vacuum to remove residual polish and stripping solution.
Re-apply thin coat of floor polish and use dry buffing to recover gloss.

Maintenance in case of stubborn stains
In case of extremely stubborn stains, such as acids, alkalis, shoe-polish,
blood, catsup, mustard, food, candy, fruit and fruit juices, grass, urine,
excrement, vomit … on floor coverings, Juteks recommends usage
of suitable pad soaked with neutral floor cleaner and water or cloth
soaked with methylated spirit. After removing accumulated dirt, the
floor covering should be rinsed with clean water and allowed to dry
off completely.
For specific stains which won’t wipe up such as chewing gum, iodine,
wax, oil, asphalt, tar - act immediately, carefully remove excess with a
dull kitchen knife. Rub area lightly with mineral spirits, isopropyl alcohol
or lighter fluid, renew the operation if necessary. After removing stains
always rinse well with clean water.
